National Safety Month

In addition to being the official start of summer, June is also National Safety Month.  The National Safety Council (NSC) uses this opportunity to educate and raise awareness about safety in the workplace, at home and when on the road.

Although we are not affiliated with NSC, NCTI believes in its mission and observes this program annually. Promoting a preemptive stance to safety, applying best practices and avoiding shortcuts saves lives and prevents injuries.  Our families, colleagues, clients, and students are extremely important to us and we want to see everyone survive and thrive.

Why is it so important?  In 2017, over 146,000 died from unintentional injury-related deaths such as poisoning, car crashes, and falls, just to name a few.  Sadly, most are preventable.  Being cognizant of safety hazards and taking proper precautions can help significantly reduce this number.  On a positive note, according to NSC, when companies promote and practice safety, “Employees see improved morale, increased productivity, lower costs and most importantly, fewer injuries.”

During June, we will share NSC’s recommendations and resources, related blogs from our Learning and Development team and information about the safety training NCTI provides.  We encourage you to visit NSC’s site to download, review and practice applicable safety measures.

We hope you have fun, relaxing, and safe summer!
