What kind of operating system do I need on my desktop or laptop to take a course?

System Requirements


  • PC Compatible Operating System only: Windows 7 through 10
  • OS-X (Apple) 10.x (certain courses)*
  • Web Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer 9-11; Google Chrome (32 latest-certain courses), Firefox (26 latest-certain courses) and Safari (7.x latest) – (certain courses)
  • We recommend a minimum Screen Resolution of 1024 (width) x 768 (height) pixels
  • Internet Connection: High Speed Internet Access required for online courses (DSL or faster)
  • Adobe Flash current version (certain courses)*
  • Disable any Pop-up blockers

I am having problems launching a course. What do I need to do?

Pop-Up Blockers

Please turn off your pop-up blockers for course-playing purposes.

For Internet Explorer

Pop-up Blocker is turned on in Internet Explorer by default. To turn it off or to turn it on again if you've already turned it off, follow these steps:

1. Open Internet Explorer

2. Click the Tools button

3. Mouse over “Pop-Up Blocker”

4. Click “Turn-Off Pop-up Blocker”

For Mozilla Firefox

1. Open Mozilla Firefox

2. Click on the "Tools" dropdown

2. Click on "Options"

3. Click on "Content"

4. Uncheck the "Block pop-up windows" checkbox

For Google Chrome

1. Open Google Chrome

2. Click on the "hamburger" icon in the upper right-hand corner

3. Click "Settings"

4. Click the "Show Advanced Settings" link at the bottom of the page

5. Click the "Content Settings" button below the "Privacy" header

6. Click the radio button "Allow all sites to show pop-ups"
