If you prefer to listen to content rather than reading, or if you need to use a screen reader for accessibility reasons, you can now configure your web browser to read your NCTI courses, along with all kinds of other web content.
Read Aloud: A Text to Speech Voice Reader, by Isdsoftware.com, is an available browser extension that you may add to your web browser to enable audio for your NCTI course materials.
It’s free, and there are versions for the most popular web browsers including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox. If you use Safari, we’ve provided a link to instructions to activate its built-in screen reader, too.
Step 1 – Activate the Extension:
The following links will take you to an extension for the specified browser, or instructions on how to activate text-to-speech or screen readers. Click the icon for the browser you use and follow the directions to enable the Read Aloud extension.
Safari Users : You can activate Safari’s built-in VoiceOver screen reader feature by following these instructions.
Step 2: Read aloud:
After you’ve installed the Read Aloud extension on your web browser, you will notice a new “Read Aloud” button in your browser bar. Click it any time you want to hear your web content read aloud!
