Technical Mathematics covers material designed for career technical or general studies for students who need to study particular mathematical topics. Topics will include measurement, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, graphs and finance. These are presented on an introductory level and the emphasis is on applications.

Ratios, Proportions and Percents
Write a comparison of two numbers as a ratio, write a ratio as a fraction, decimal numeral or unit ratio, solve a proportion, recognize/set up/ solve direct and indirect proportion applications, convert among fractions, decimals and percents and solve rate/base/percentage problems
Units of Measure
Identify significant digits, identify which of two numbers is more accurate or precise, round numbers to the accuracy or precision required and use dimensional analysis
Signed Numbers
Use rules of operations on signed numbers, find powers/roots of signed numbers and use order of operation
Powers of Ten and Scientific Notation
Convert to/from scientific notation, multiply/ divide powers of ten and numbers in scientific notation
Algebraic Operations
Recognize/add/subtract like terms, multiply/ divide monomials and use the distributive law
Algebraic Equations and Formulas
Solve and check linear equations, including those containing grouping symbols and fractions and evaluate/solve formulas
Systems of Equations
Solve systems of equations in two variables by substitution/addition
Use of Angles
Identify/draw acute, obtuse, right, straight, vertical, complementary, supplementary, alternate interior, alternate exterior and corresponding angles, convert between degreeminutes rees-tenths, add/subtract measures of angles and solve angle problems
Triangles
Identify/draw acute, obtuse, isosceles, equilateral and right triangles, use Pythagorean theorem to solve a right triangle, find perimeter/area of a triangle and solve similar triangle problems
Circles and Polygons

Geometric Solids
