Building upon the concepts covered in the Introduction to 5G and Introduction to Wi-Fi, this course sets out to explain how these two technologies will coexist and interwork in a bid to bring about universal connectivity. After looking at several use cases for interworking, the course explains the terms Untrusted and Trusted Non 3GPP Access and describes these in terms of different architectural network deployments. It then moves on to explain how a device can register on a 5G Core network via Wi-Fi and its subsequent establishment of a PDU Session. In so doing, QoS (Quality of Service) is described in terms of both 5G and Wi-Fi, in addition to discussing the role IPSec plays in the connection. The course then moves on to describe how mobility is supported in terms of devices switching between 5G and Wi-Fi before culminating with an overview of ATSSS and its capability to support Steering, Switching and Splitting of data bearers between these two radio technologies.
