Chris Justice recently joined NCTI’s Learning and Development team as a Curriculum Developer, where he will put his 24+ years of industry experience and deep knowledge of network technology to good use developing new and updated course content. Chris lives in Clinton Township, Michigan with his wife and the two youngest of their three kids. Let’s get to know Chris:
What inspired you to pursue your career?
I’ve always loved electronics, installing, fixing, or just opening them to see how they worked. 20+ years ago when the opportunity to become an internet installer was in front of me, I jumped at it. Fast forward a couple of years, while talking with a maintenance technician while at job, I saw what he did, and I was hooked.
In your new role with NCTI, what are you most excited about?
Being part of this amazing development team building the content. My last role was in delivery, facilitating only to the technicians in the company. Now, taking the blinders off and seeing so much more of our industry than what I was used to before.
What career journeys and milestones are you most proud of?
While in the navy I became a golden shellback. There is a very long and torturous initiation ceremony whenever a ship crosses the equator, in which you become a shellback. Our captain made a slight change in course so we would cross where the equator and international date intersect so we could be golden shellbacks. Another being part of a team making it to the national championship of our company’s jeopardy contest, and several years later selected to write questions for the same event.

Our industry is constantly evolving to meet the needs of the customer. Keep learning, don’t grow roots, and get complacent or you just might get passed by that new hire that submitted a bogus line call/RTM last week.
